This was when I remembered my Veteran’s wish, and I realised that we could not make these people wait. We faced an option of postponing the main event of the program and possibly cancelling it all together as it was unknown when all the restriction would be lifted. Social distancing was introduced, and our veterans were put in lockdown. Everyone was looking forward to attending the usual presentation and concert in Glen Eira Town Hall. We started planning the 75th Anniversary program. We have run many monthly events and delivered several mental health support initiatives for the Veterans and members of the Association. We established a memorial at the Shrine of Remembrance. When we completed the activities in commemoration of the Victory Day in 2019, one of our most respected veterans said to me: “Boris, I wish I live till next year to celebrate the 75 th Anniversary of the WW2 Victory.”Ī lot happened since then. Its primary purpose is to provide support for those involved in military action, and others impacted by this tragic event directly or not.
